Economic and social assessment of adaptation

Adaptation measures require economical inputs, but these inputs can be returned, provided good care is taken of management of the measures and promotion of agricultural production. E.g. support for the irrigation/canalisation systems of farmers help them get the best possible outcome from plant breeding and the better conditions. With a bigger realisation of crop potential, also nutrient and plant protection inputs will be used more efficiently and less will remain to leach in the water systems.
